Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. George Swietlicki

Born in Caracas, Venezuela of Polish parents, I am immersed in many languages, traditions, and an interesting array of educational systems.  I experienced the British boarding schools in England, graduated; continued higher education at the Vienna Academy of Music (Vienna, Austria) with a degree in music pedagogy and conducting, and, in pursuit of the American Dream, came to the United States, earning my degree of MFA in piano performance.

Since then, I have taught at many levels: middle school, high school and college, and have proudly chosen to  remain in Dobbs Ferry for many years, enough to  see five of my Springhurst graduates become Springhurst teachers, now my colleagues.  I also enjoy seeing numerous former Springhurst graduates, whose children are now my students in class.

In my ascent to “master teacher” status, I fulfilled MENC’s rigorous requirements to obtain the Nationally Certified Music Educator certificate, after which I was honored in bringing our Harmonaires as the only exemplary vocal school ensemble in the nation to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.  At that historic concert, MENC crowned me with the honor of arranging and performing Alan Menken’s Beauty and the Beast, with the composer at my side.

As an immigrant, it is with great pride, humility, and joy, to teach, nurture, and share my world experiences with our Springhurst families.

Please enjoy my composition, an immigrant's anthem to America!
