• Dobbs Ferry Middle School Counseling Department

Thank you for visiting the Middle School Counseling website.  We would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about what we do...

    2020/2021 School Year
Ms. Sandra Hacker will be 7th
grade counselor and Ms. Rose Mittan will be 6th and 8th grade counselor. We are located in the Guidance Suite and can be reached at 693-7643 or by e-mail at hackers@dfsd.org and mittanr@dfsd.org, respectively.

Middle school counselors are professional educators with a mental health perspective who understand and respond to the challenges presented by today’s diverse student population. Through a comprehensive developmental school counseling program, counselors work as team members with school staff, parents and the community to create a caring, supportive climate and atmosphere whereby students can achieve academic success.  Our goal is to help students to achieve optimal personal growth, acquire positive social skills and values, set appropriate career goals and realize full academic potential to become productive, contributing members of society. Counseling education is provided through individual sessions, group counseling and classroom lessons. School counselors hold a master’s degree and are required to be state certified.

In addition to counseling, we also schedule students’ classes. Please contact your school counselor if you have questions or concerns about a schedule.
