    SUMMARY OF HYBRID LEARNING SCENARIOS

    If the District Is Permitted to Open Schools But Must Follow Health & Safety Guidelines Limiting the Number of Students Who Can Attend In Person at One Time

    Updated High School Model - Full Time In-Person
    (effective starting April 12, 2021)

    On Monday, April 12, 2021 the Dobbs Ferry School District is returning to full time in-person learning. Students will be back in the classroom except for those families that still opt to continue remote learning through the end of the school year. These students will be livestreaming into the classroom.

     

    Updated High School AM/PM Hybrid Model
    (effective starting January 27, 2021 - April 9, 2021)

    • Monday/Tuesday/Friday: Remote Instruction
    • Wednesday/Thursday: Students will be divided into two cohorts (Cohort 1 and Cohort 2) and the AM/PM schedule will be as follows:
      • AM: Periods 1-4
      • PM: Periods 5-9
    • Cleaning will occur in between the AM/PM cohort shift.
    • Elimination of the in-person Wednesday "flex" day
    • After school "flex" time (2:20-3:20) for all five days
    • Asynchronous "flex" time on Wednesday and Thursday (see below)
    • "Day Schedule" (A Day/B Day) will be adjusted.
    • Special Education has a more enhanced in-person plan. 

    Students will be assigned to cohorts (1 or 2), with schedules as follows: 

    Cohort 1:
    Wednesday:

    • Periods 1-4 (AM): Live in-person instruction. Remote only students will access the classes as well during this time.
    • Periods 5-9 (PM): Asynchronous “flex” time.

    Thursday:

    • Periods 1-4 (AM): Asynchronous “flex” time.
    • Periods 5-9 (PM): Live in-person instruction. Remote only students will access the classes as well during this time. 

    Cohort 2:
    Wednesday:

    • Periods 1-4 (AM): Asynchronous “flex” time
    • Periods 5-9 (PM): Live in-person instruction. Remote only students will access the classes as well during this time. 

    Thursday:

    • Periods 1-4: Live-in person instruction. Remote only students will access the classes as well during this time. 
    • Periods 5-9: Asynchronous “flex” time

     

    Dobbs Ferry High School: Student Choice Hybrid Model
    (In effect September 8, 2020, through January 26, 2021)

    • Students and teachers interact live via Google Meet or other similar platforms for their normal 9-period day
    • Students can participate from home or at school (by appointment)
      • Space will be available throughout the building for students to work from school
      • Most teachers will teach from their high school classrooms
    • Follow the current “Wednesday” (condensed) bell schedule 4 days per week: 
    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
      • 8:12am - 2:20pm every day
      • 38-minute periods 
      • 3-minute breaks between periods (passing time)
      • Student lunch and Free Periods (Academic Study) as scheduled
      • Teacher lunch, preparation and professional period as scheduled
    • 2:20pm - 3:20pm each day for:
      • Teachers to meet with students in-person or remote, individually and/or in small groups as necessary
      • Teachers to collaborate with colleagues, plan instruction, and respond to parent inquiries
    • Wednesday is Flex Day for in-person or remote: small group meetings, meetings with counselors, T-periods, support, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) initiatives, teacher collaboration, and homework assignments
    • ENL/AIS/Related Services/Counseling services provided as scheduled
    • Students may choose to come to school for in-person work with teachers and counselors, via on-line sign-up system:
      • during their free periods
      • during their lunch periods
      • 2:20pm - 3:20pm
      • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays:
      • Wednesdays, all day

    Updated Middle School AM/PM Hybrid Model
    (effective starting January 19, 2021 - April 9, 2021)

    • All students will be on campus four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday)
    • Students will be divided into two cohorts (Blue and White)
    • Wednesday: Full day of remote instruction, following the 9-period remote schedule (8:12-2:20)
    • Monday/Tuesday/ThursdayFriday: Students will be divided into two cohorts and the AM/PM in-person schedule will be as follows:
      • AM: Periods 1-4
      • PM: Periods 6-9
      • Blue group attends in person AM Mondays/Thursdays, PM Tuesdays/Fridays
      • White group attends in person AM Tuesdays/Fridays, PM Mondays/Thursdays
    • Cleaning will occur in between the AM/PM cohort shift.
    • When students are not in school, they are expected to continue with asynchronous learning at home.
    • Teachers are available for additional support on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:20-3:20pm.

     

    Middle School: A/B A/B Hybrid Model
    (In effect September 8, 2020, through January 18, 2021)

    • All students will attend in person two days per week
    • Students will be divided into 2 groups and attend school on a split schedule model.   
      • Blue Group attends on Monday/Thursday
      • White Group attends on Tuesday/Friday
    • When in school, students will follow the current “Wednesday” (condensed) bell schedule
      • 8:12am - 2:20pm every day
      • 38-minute periods 
      • 3-minute breaks between periods (passing time)
      • Student lunch and Free Periods (Academic Study) as scheduled
      • Teacher lunch, preparation and professional period as scheduled
    • To allow for cleaning of classrooms, students will be cohorted for several classes.  When cohorted, they will remain in the same room and teachers will rotate to them.  
    • When not on campus, students will complete individual assignments and learning opportunities posted to Google Classroom
    • Additional AIS/Related Services for “off campus” days as necessary
    • Wednesdays will be designated as a “Flex” day and students will not be in attendance
    • The Wednesday Flex day will provide valuable opportunities for teachers to provide related and academic intervention services, meet with students individually and/or in small groups as necessary, collaborate with colleagues, plan instruction, and respond to parent inquiries




    Springhurst AM/PM Hybrid Model

    Updated Springhurst Model - Full Time In-Person
    (effective starting April 12, 2021)

    On Monday, April 12, 2021 the Dobbs Ferry School District is returning to full time in-person learning. Students will be back in the classroom except for those families that still opt to continue remote learning through the end of the school year. These students will be livestreaming into the classroom. 

    • Arrival and dismissal times will be as follows:
      • K-2 arrival 8:00 am, dismissal 3:00pm  
      • 3-5 arrival  8:35 am, dismissal 3:35pm
      • Wednesday dismissal will be one hour earlier



    (AM/PM Model In effect September 8, 2020, through April 12, 2021)

    • All students will attend in person four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday)
    • Students will be divided into one of two cohorts (A and B)
    • Students will attend school on an AM/PM model and will be on campus for in-person instruction 2 1/4 hours each day (exact time schedule will differ by grade level and will be communicated once finalized)
      • Cohort A: on campus during the morning hours
      • Cohort B:  on campus during the afternoon hours.
    • During the portion of the day when they are on campus, students will receive in-person instruction in ELA, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and SEL
    • During the portion of the day when they are off campus, students will receive instruction remotely in at least one of the following subjects each day: Phys Ed, Art, Music, Technology, Library and/or FLES (grades 2-5) and band or orchestra (if applicable)
    • All students will be engaged in learning activities from about 8:00am to about 2:00pm, depending on grade (half in person, and half remote)
    • Wednesdays will be designated as a “Flex” day and students will not be in attendance
    • The Wednesday Flex day will provide valuable opportunities for teachers to provide related and academic intervention services, meet with students individually and/or in small groups as necessary, collaborate with colleagues, plan instruction, and respond to parent inquiries
    • AIS/Related Services will be provided during the off-campus portion of the student day
    • ENL Services will be in-person push-in and/or virtual as scheduling allows
    • Speech/Counseling will be in-person push-in and/or virtual as scheduling allows
    • OT/PT will be in-person push-in and/or virtual as scheduling allows
