Our website is designed to provide you with important information about our school and serves as a window into some of the wonderful programs that we have to offer at DFHS.
As a high-performing IB World School, we are dedicated to maximizing the potential of all students by providing a curriculum that promotes a global perspective and international mindedness. Our diverse curriculum and extracurricular activities enable students to build a strong academic foundation, while allowing for the development of personal interests and creative expression. All students at DFHS enroll in at least two IB Diploma Program courses prior to graduation, and approximately 25% of our students pursue the full IB Diploma each year. Students graduate from Dobbs Ferry High School prepared for success at the top universities in the nation or in their chosen career path.
All students at DFHS will fully access the IB MYP and all sophomores will complete an IB Personal Project at the conclusion of 10th grade. This program, coupled with elective options in areas such as science research, computer science, business, film, and art, enables our students to develop the necessary 21st century skills to be successful in college, the workforce, and beyond.
Our instruction and curriculum is further enhanced by the use of educational technology and the District’s 1:1 Chromebook program. In 2016-17, every student in grades 9-12 will have a Chromebook and will also have the option to bring their own device to school to support their learning.
Finally, I encourage all members of our school community to stay connected to the High School by not only visiting the website, but by "liking" the school's Facebook page, downloading the school's mobile app, checking the Twitter page (@johnfalino1), and reading the Principal's blog (johnfalino.com). These outlets provide information on the latest happenings at school and the great work being done by students and staff.
Our number one goal is for students to leave the building each day feeling that they have been challenged, engaged, and encouraged. Our numerous programs, along with an exceptional faculty and staff, allow us to achieve this goal. As always, please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or feedback.
