Course Selection

  • Course Selection

Students, parents, counselors, and teachers should all be involved in the course selection process. We encourage students to make course selections that are challenging, but not overwhelming, and align well with their academic and postsecondary goals.

In planning a course of study for the next year, students should consider the following:

    -Recommendations made by teachers
-Successes and difficulties in current courses and courses previously taken

    -Graduation requirements
-Course descriptions in the course catalog
-Academic recommendations established by colleges, universities, and vocational choices
    -Family discussions
    -Level of intrinsic motivation
    -Possible college majors/career paths
-Courses that might be taken purely for enjoyment and personal interest
-Balancing school, extracurricular, and personal commitments
    -NCAA eligibility
