  • Meet the Hazard, Young, Attea, & Associates (HYA) Superintendent Search Team


    Deborah RaizesDeborah Raizes

    Deborah Raizes has been with HYA for more than 20 years and has done over 90 searches.  The majority of her searches have been for high performing suburban districts and some urban districts as well. She led the last superintendent search conducted by the Dobbs Ferry School District, in 2011, that led to the hiring of the current superintendent, Dr. Lisa Brady. Before joining HYA Ms Raizes was on the Scarsdale, NY, Board of Education where she served as Vice President and President of the Board.  She is on the Board of Trustees of Lesley University where she served as Chair of the Board for 8 years. In addition to  searches, Ms Raizes has conducted many workshops on Board governance and strategic planning.




    Susan GuineySusan Zahra Guiney, Ed.D., CHt

    Dr. Susan Guiney joined HYA after an accomplished career in public and private education. She served in high performing districts as a K-12 teacher, Director of Technology and Professional Development, Director of Curriculum and as the Superintendent of Schools for the Mount Pleasant Central School District for 10 years prior to her retirement in 2018.  Dr. Guiney has an earned doctorate in Leadership from Columbia University, Teachers College.  During her tenure as a superintendent, Dr. Guiney consulted with the board of education on governance and policy and led the district’s strategic planning initiatives with a clear focus on pedagogy and technologically advanced learner centered classrooms. She also focused on recruiting, hiring, and developing high caliber staff;  restructured the district’s business office and completed significant capital projects among other achievements.


    Since 2018, Dr. Guiney, as an Executive Leadership Coach, consults with highly successful individuals and organizations and supports their success through personal growth and mental conditioning, nurturing growth mindsets and emotional intelligence, knowledge management inventories, organizational audits, systems thinking, and personal and corporate strategic planning.


    Passionate about learning, Dr. Guiney was named a Woman of Distinction by the NYS Senate and served on the Westchester County Domestic Violence Council. Dr. Guiney is a published author, speaker, and recognized expert in the field.
