Welcome to the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Webpage 

The Dobbs Ferry School District is committed to providing  a learning environment for every student that is safe, inclusive, just and equitable. By identifying the areas where we need to make progress and working together to implement  necessary changes, we can begin to fulfill our nation’s promise of equal opportunity for all. We don't have all the answers - - but our school family is taking on this challenging work to ultimately make postive, actionable changes in our schools and educational system related to any form of racism, bias and discrimination.

Several years ago we embarked on a multi-year and multi-pronged approach to address racism, equity and diversity in our District. The timeline on this webpage provides a visual path of where we have been, and where we are currently on this journey. This year, we have expanded that work and have increased the number of stakeholders who are participating in that process. We are hoping this section  on our District website can be a reference point to help the Dobbs Ferry community understand the various aspects of this work, find resources, and follow our progress.

We know that the conversations we are asking our students, staff, administrators and community members to have are difficult ones. To many, it may seem like change is not coming quickly enough, and for others it might seem too fast. However, we believe that following a comprehensive and deliberate process will provide the best opportunity for achieving enduring results. The inequity and structural racism that have impacted our schools for hundreds of years will not disappear overnight, but it is the most urgent task facing public education today. We are grateful to the Dobbs Ferry community for its support and partnership in this effort.
