Dobbs Ferry High School's IB Film Night Features Award-Winning Student Videos
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., May 30, 2017-- The Dobbs Ferry community is invited to attend the Annual IB Film Night at the High School on Thursday, June 1st at 7:00 PM in the High School Auditorium. The program will feature the culminating short films produced by seniors who have participated in the two-year International Baccalaureate (IB) Film course, along with selected junior videos. Three of the films to be screened have won top honors in prestigious Westchester and New York State film festivals. Read more...

Dobbs Ferry Middle School 8th Grade Theater Arts Presents “Curse of the Cobra’s Kiss” A Murder Comedy
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. May 22, 2017—Dobbs Ferry Middle School’s Theater Arts Department presents the murder mystery comedy, Curse of the Cobra’s Kiss, on Wednesday, May 24th at 7:00 pm in the High School/Middle School auditorium. DFHS Musical Garners Three METRO Awards Nominations
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., May 19, 2017-- Dobbs Ferry High School’s spring production of the musical The Addams Family, received three nominations for the prestigious METROS (Metropolitan High School Theater Awards), sponsored by The Journal News and Helen Hayes Youth Theatre. This is the first year that Dobbs Ferry High School has entered the competition and they were competing against other school musicals in Rockland, Westchester, Putnam and Bergen Counties, including many Districts with bigger student populations and theater budgets. A total of 24 schools in Westchester County participated in the 2017 METRO Awards. read more

Dobbs Ferry High School Theater Arts Class Performs “38 and Counting…”
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. April 25, 2017-- Dobbs Ferry High School’s Theater Arts class is staging four one-act plays for students, parents and the community this Friday night, April 28th at 7:00 pm in the High School auditorium. The year-long course culminates with a final performance entitled “38 and Counting…” The show is free with a $5 suggested donation. read more

Springhurst’s Swietlicki is Music Teacher by Day; TV Composer by Night
Dobbs Ferry, March 23, 2017--Springhurst Elementary School’s very own music impresario, George Swietlicki, has gone Hollywood. One of his recorded arrangements was recently purchased by the television show “Homeland,” airing Sunday nights at 9:00 pm on Showtime (EST), and it is now being played throughout season six as part of the lead-in to all 12 episodes. Dobbs Ferry High School’s Musical Theater Department presents The Addams Family on Friday, March 31st at 7:00 pm and Saturday, April 1st at 7:00 pm in the High School auditorium. This macabre musical comedy is wackier than ever and is based on the loveable and ghoulish characters that creator Charles Addams featured in his original cartoons in The New Yorker magazine from 1938-1988. Dobbs Ferry School District Hosts First Tri-State Consortium Visit to Examine Technology Integration
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. March 9, 2017—This past week the Dobbs Ferry School District hosted a visiting team of teachers and administrators from districts throughout the NY Metropolitan area as part of the School District’s association with the Tri-State Consortium of Schools. Dobbs Ferry has been a member of the Consortium since 2012, and this is the first assessment visit for the District, which is by request only. The Consortium team spent three days on campus and provided the District with invaluable feedback regarding its efforts to successfully integrate technology into the classrooms. read more...

The kids even create their own puzzles throughout the year in Math Olympiad Club, and the Japanese inventor of KenKen has visited the elementary school twice at the behest of Mr. Rosen to officiate at the Challenge. Dobbs Ferry High School Senior Mika Andrews Has Great Cross Country "Run"
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., November 28, 2016 -- She’s probably the best female cross country runner in Dobbs Ferry High School history according to team coach JP Kaminski. At the state championship at Chenango Valley State Park outside of Binghamton, senior Mika Andrews ran the 5,000 meter or 3.1 mile course in an amazing pace of 19:12.9 finishing in 4th place. Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., November 14, 2016 -- Dobbs Ferry Middle School proudly presents FAME Jr, based on the acclaimed motion picture, television series and stage show, as its fall musical this season. Dobbs Ferry High School Senior Blake Hord Named Finalist in Prestigious Siemens Science Competition
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., October 20, 2016 -- Dobbs Ferry High School senior Blake Hord has been named a regional finalist in the 2016 Siemens Competition, the nation’s premier research competition in math, science and technology for high school students. More than 1,600 projects were submitted this year with 498 being selected as semifinalists. Of those, 96 were named regional finalists. Hord was one of Westchester’s six semifinalists, and subsequently the only finalist in Westchester. read more

New Middle School Cheerleading Team to perform at Modified Games
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. August 8, 2016—No sooner did school let out at the end of June, than three weeks later one Dobbs Ferry High School sports team had already begun its 3-4 day-a-week practice schedule. Since mid-July the varsity cheerleaders, comprised of 18 girls grades 10-12, have been honing their skills and routines in preparation for the start of football season and cheerleading camp at the end of August. read more...

IB Film Festival Highlights Student Productions
Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., May 31, 2016 -- Dobbs Ferry High School’s annual International Baccalaureate (IB) Film Festival will be held on Wednesday, June 1st at 7:00 pm in the High School Auditorium. This special evening, which is open to the community, features more than a dozen short films by budding filmmakers in the two-year IB elective course.
